I can't seem to get more than 2 years out of the microwaves I've been buying, and my last one (a Sharp) didn't last more than a year. Forget about Sharp, Emerson, and other manufacturers that can't seem to get their act together. Toshiba is a respected brand, so I decided to go with the EM131A5C-BS. The product is well-designed, and manufactured well too -- maybe the best microwave I've ever had. If it lasts for more than 2 years, I'll be thrilled.

We have only had this a week and are happy with it so far. We bought it because we needed a microwave and like that we can heat dinner in it also. I'm not sure we will use any of the other cooking cycles because we have an air fryer that works great, I would like to try the broil cycle at some point. People in other reviews complained about the beeper being so loud and long, you can turn it off if you hold down the "timer/clock" button for 3 seconds.

I don't have room for an air fryer and a microwave. When my microwave started to smell like burning electronics, I replaced it with this. I have used it to dehydrate apples, air fry leftover french fries, broil open faced cheese sandwiches, as well as microwave things. It seems to heat things less quickly than my old GE microwave, but it's not by a lot. The extra functionality more than compensates.

My old microwave finally died after a little more than 4 years use. I had mixed feelings about it finally dying. On the one hand, I was not thrilled to have to buy a new one, but on the other hand, I loathed that microwave due to the buzzer which simply would not stop unless you went to it and opened the door. Otherwise, it would keep buzzing loudly for days, weeks, months. I HATED that microwave.
